Cultivating Wakefulness in Relationship with Nicola Redfern Saturday, September 30 9:30-4:30 p.m. at the sangha house, 248 D St. Join us for a day of Insight Dialogue practice, cultivating mindfulness as we open to the relational aspects of life. Insight Dialogue expands our solitary meditation practice by extending mindfulness, wisdom and compassion into speaking and listening as we contemplate with others. We will practice relational meditation, pausing out of routine reactions, releasing habitual patterns and meeting the moment of interpersonal contact with a fresh wakefulness. We will interweave periods of silent meditation practice with carefully guided dialogues in pairs or small groups. This daylong retreat is open to both beginners and experienced practitioners. Further information about the practice of insight dialogue can be found at www.metta.org The fee for the daylong retreat is $25. We hope that this amount will cover Nicola’s travel expenses. There will also be an opportunity to offer a donation or dana (the Pali word for generosity) in addition to the $25 fee. To register for this retreat, please email alauerroy@gmail.com We have the opportunity to purchase a prayer wheel made by Denver artist Deborah Jang, There are two available that were temporary installations in Denver neighborhoods and already have some prayers placed inside. The artist has offered one to us for a very special price of $500 for either one. There will be a donation box in the kitchen at the sangha house to raise the funds to obtain one for the front yard of the sangha house and we are asking everyone to vote for their favorite of the two. SenGen (senior generation) meeting will be next Thursday, August 17 from 2:00-3:30 at 248 D Street. The topic will be "Navigating Life's Transitions." The next Book Club meeting will be September 13th at 6 pm to discuss more of Humble Before The Void by Christ Impey. Second Saturday Sits are temporarily suspended due to lack of participation. Sunday Sit Leaders please sign up on our website at the bottom of this page! http://www.salidasangha.org/community.html And finally, the weeds in the yard and driveway at the sangha house have flourished due to the recent rains. We are asking that anyone with a few minutes to spare please stop by and pull some and throw them into the compost pile behind the shed. Your generosity in this regard will be much appreciated! We now have an automatic watering system installed so no more need for a water yogi. Many thanks to all who have helped in the yard this summer! With heartfelt blessings to all our brothers and sisters, Your sangha board
