The Five Precepts and Buddhist Morality 3rd Sunday of the month, 3:30 begins June 16th Come delight in simple, virtuous conduct! A fellow sangha member will host a monthly recitation of ‘The Five Mindfulness Trainings’ as explained by Thich Nhat Hanh. These are not commandments, rather an exploration in training the mind and heart. Mindfulness is but a single thread in our rich tradition. From the time of the Buddha, five precepts have informed and supported the beautiful tapestry that we call meditation. The early Buddhist term, sila, refers to good character, nature, or habit. Traditionally, these five virtues serve as prerequisite for lay people to receive instruction in the sitting practice. They wrap the sangha in a cloth of harmony, provide protection, and ready us to sense the fragrance of enlightenment. Summer Yard Day Please join us on June 29th for a summer yard clean-up and weed-up! We will gather from 8:30am to 10:30am to avoid the heat. Some snacks and drinks will be provided. Please bring a hat, gloves, sunscreen, maybe a weed digging implement and your energy and enthusiasm. This is a great opportunity to offer love to our Earth! Survey: Residential or Non-Residential Residency The Sangha Board believes that, when important decisions are to be made, the deciding voice should be that of the whole Sangha. By completing this brief survey on a Sangha Retreat in 2021 or 2022, you can help us make arrangements that best meet the needs of a majority of Sangha members. There are two options before us: a residential retreat or a non-residential residency. Please click here to answer the simple survey questions: Take Survey Regardless of the option we choose, there will be an opportunity to share gifts of Dana with the teachers, who otherwise receive no compensation. Mindful Recovery This is a reminder that the Mindful Recovery group is now meeting at the sangha house at 7:00 pm on Wednesdays. With warmest springtime regards, Your Sangha Board
