September 12-13, 2020 Virtual Retreat With Brian Lesage
"MOVING INTO BEING MOVED"
Live via Zoom

We are born with the capacity for an embodied compassion. This capacity can be nurtured so that it blossoms both in our formal meditation and in our day-to-day lives and we can cultivate a capacity for compassion that is neither disconnected nor overwhelming.
In this weekend retreat, we will be exploring the conditions that support the unfolding of compassion in a step-by-step manner.  This will be a mostly silent retreat with guided meditations and time for questions and response each day.

There are still a few spaces available for the retreat.
If you have questions, please call Roberta Smith at 719-221-1853.

Note:  There will not be a Zoom sit on Sunday, September 13th because of the retreat.

Outdoor Meditation August 30th

We had a good turnout for meditation by the river last Sunday.  It was great to see our friends, even if they were all masked and distanced!  Thank you Cindy Sasso for leading us so nicely.

Poem
Now you know the worst-Wendell Berry
To my granddaughters who visited the Holocaust Museum on the day of the burial of Yitzhak Rabin

Now you know the worst
we humans have to know
about ourselves, and I am sorry,

for I know that you will be afraid.
To those of our bodies given
without pity to be burned, I know

there is no answer
but loving one another,
even our enemies, and this is hard.

But remember:
when a man of war becomes a man of peace,
he gives a light, divine

though it is also human.
When a man of peace is killed
by a man of war, he gives a light.

You do not have to walk in darkness.
If you will have the courage for love,
you may walk in light. It will be

the light of those who have suffered
for peace. It will be
your light.

May we all have the courage for love and may we walk in the light,
Your Salida Sangha board
