Finding Freedom Through Insight Meditation

Non-Residential Retreat with Brian Lesage

March 9th, 9:00am-4:00 pm and March 10th, 9:00am-3:30 pm

Mount Princeton Resort, Upper Conference Center

15870 County Road 162, Nathrop, CO 81236

Insight meditation is a simple and direct practice based on moment-to-moment awareness, a technique that opens the heart and clears the mind.

This will be an opportunity to practice continuous mindfulness in silence throughout the day—in sitting and walking meditation. In the silence we are freed from much of the daily barrage of stimulus that draws our attention outward, letting us delve deeply inward. Learning to be aware of our experience from a place of stillness and equanimity allows us to see more clearly, and as insight deepens, compassion and wisdom can arise.

The retreat is designed for beginners and experienced practitioners alike. Experiential meditative approaches will be offered throughout the retreat and will be supported by discussion times.

Guidelines and details will be sent to participants one week before the retreat.

In an effort to minimize the effects of last-minute cancellations that we have been experiencing, we now have a $25.00 non-refundable registration fee. This fee also helps cover a portion of the cost to SIMC for this retreat (approx. $2,100). Please contact us at sangha@salidasangha.org if have questions or if you need financial assistance for this fee.

A New Weekly Sit?

Our Sunday and Tuesday sits have been well attended, so we are considering adding another weekly sit. Carla Jaramillo kindly created a survey to determine what day and time would work best. Please take a couple of minutes to fill out the survey and let us know your preference and thank you for your time!

Half-Day Compassionate Abiding Retreat

Saturday, February 10th, 9am-12:30pm

SIMC - 248 D Street, Salida, CO

In this silent retreat, we will explore practices of abiding in compassion as a gateway to freedom. The retreat will include a dharma talk, sitting and walking meditation.

Introduction to Meditation Course: Developing a Daily Practice

Wednesdays, Jan 31 - Feb 28, 12pm-1:15pm

SIMC - 248 D Street, Salida, CO

In this course we will learn sitting, walking, and heart-based meditation practices to help us be more mindful in everyday life. When we do meditation, we can see more clearly our habits, and see ways to free ourselves from that which doesn't serve us or the world.

Interested in being a Sunday Sit Leader?

Our current format for Sunday sit leaders is simply to welcome everyone there, to invite each person to introduce themselves, to ring the bell at the beginning and end of meditation, and then to share anything that is currently relevant to the leader in their practice or in their life in order to start a conversation among the participants. We end with the sharing of the merit. That's it! If you are interested in this opportunity please contact Cindy Sasso, cindysasso87@gmail.com or Phil Sasso, philsasso@yahoo.com.

Smart TV Needed

We would like to get a Smart TV for the Sangha House so that we might gather together to view dharma talks or participate in online retreats. If you have one that you aren't using, please contact us at sangha@salidasangha.org. It would be much appreciated!

As always, we wish you and all beings everywhere health, happiness, safety from all harm, loving kindness, freedom and peace.
