Dear Sangha,
We are truly touched by the gracious and heartfelt response to last week's special Dāna Drive newsletter! Our deepest bow of gratitude goes out to everyone who has given—and continues to give—with such open and generous hearts.
Continuing Our Dāna Drive
The SIMC Dāna Drive will continue through the end of the year. Your steady and generous support is vital. It helps us meet rising operating costs and maintain the financial stability that ensures SIMC will continue to thrive. By inviting one-time, or new monthly pledges to this circle of giving, we nurture the conditions for SIMC to remain a safe and compassionate refuge for all who seek the Dharma.

Saturday, November 8th (9am - 3pm)
at the SIMC Sangha House -248 D Street, Salida, CO 8120
Join us for a full day dedicated to mindful practice and reflection. This retreat can be enjoyed on its own as a day of presence, insight, and growth with the Four Foundations, or as a way to deepen your practice by continuing the exploration begun in the 4-week series.
In this daylong retreat, we will take the teachings on the Four Foundations of Mindfulness into our meditation practice. We'll explore body, feeling tone, mind states & mental processes. Through bringing continuity of mindfulness to our practice and daily life activities, we can see with clarity the nature of experience and widen our capacity to meet life skillfully.
The retreat includes instruction, sitting and walking meditation, and a Q & A period. You will have the opportunity to offer Dana or generosity to support the teacher and the continuation of these offerings.
Thanksgiving Day Notice
We will not be holding our regular Thursday Noon Sit on November 27th, Thanksgiving Day, to allow everyone time to rest and spend the day as they wish. Noon Meditation will resume as usual the following week.
There WILL BE a Recovery Dharma gathering on Thanksgiving Day from 5-6 as usual.
Wishing everyone a peaceful and mindful holiday.

Online from 9am December 31st 2025 to 3pm January 1st 2026
As we enter the New Year, what gifts of participation and healing can we offer this world? In recognizing the challenges that we face both individually and collectively, we will explore the Buddhist response of wise effort through the cultivation of wholesome states of mind.
During this silent retreat, there will be sitting and walking meditation, instructions and dharma talks. There is the option to do an intensive retreat or to customize the retreat for your personal availability.

Library News
What is our Sangha Reading?
What dharma book title is especially important to you? Share your title and others may want to read it, too! Fill out a colored slip found on the library table and place it in the wooden checkout box. We'll print it in an upcoming newsletter or two (and maybe even incorporate it into a future display of books).
More New Titles
Due to the generous donations of our sangha members, we have recently added these titles to our library's collection. Your generosity is deeply appreciated.
A New Book Display is up!
"Practicing Mindfulness" is the topic of our most recent book display. It's located on two upper shelves in the far right corner of the library near the windows. These and all other library books are available for check out.
Help our Library Continue to Grow
Our library is so expansive because of your donations! If you'd like to continue to help, our poetry section could benefit from some additional titles. We'd especially love to add titles by Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer, Donna Faulds and Hafiz. Thank you!
Please let our library managers know if you have any questions or suggestions using the emails below. You can also usually find them in the library before and after our Sunday (5:00 pm) and Tuesday (noon) sits.

“The practice of generosity is the foundation of all spiritual development. It opens the heart, lessens clinging, and leads us toward freedom.”
— Joseph Goldstein
May this season remind us to pause, breathe, and notice the quiet abundance that is already here.
With gratitude,
