Autumn at SIMC: Tending What We Share

“As the seasons change, we too are invited to let go of what has been, make space for what is emerging, and meet the unfolding with open hearts.”— A reflection for Autumn

As October arrives and the landscape shows its beautiful transition and letting go, we are invited to slow down and notice the changes around us—and within us. Autumn reminds us that change is a natural part of life, and that there is wisdom in meeting each season just as it is.

This month invites us to deepen our practice through stewardship, strengthen connections within our community, and make space for whatever arises to flow through.

This year, autumn also symbolizes the doorway to a new phase of growth and change for our sangha. Keep reading for ways you can be a part of SIMC as we grow and change along with the season.

  • Saturday, October 17th

  • 10am to 1:00pm (yard & house cleanup, then lunch at 12)

  • SIMC House at 248 D ST in Salida

Join us for our annual fall cleanup and stay for a catered lunch at noon. Or skip the cleanup and simply join us for lunch!

And who is invited? Anyone who considers SIMC part of their community. If you attend sits, retreats, or other SIMC events—or contribute your time or financial support—you are part of this sangha, and we’d love to have you with us.

This lunch will be more than a chance to say thank you to the volunteers whose generosity keeps SIMC alive and vibrant. We’ll also be looking ahead.

In Buddhist practice, dāna – generosity – is one of the ways we care for and sustain community, and it takes many forms.

As our sangha grows, we’re creating and exploring new ways for more people to participate in its life and stewardship. At lunch, we’ll share some of what’s ahead and introduce new opportunities to plug in - large and small, occasional and ongoing.

There’s no commitment required. Come celebrate our sangha community, hear what’s happening at SIMC, and perhaps discover a way of participating that feels meaningful to you.

Whether you’re a longtime volunteer, curious about getting more involved, or simply want to be part of the conversation, we hope you’ll join us.

Please register here by October 10 if you plan to stay for lunch so we have an accurate headcount for food quantities. Lunch generously donated by Amica's.

Join us for a Sunday evening meditation with special guest
