Practice, Presence & Community — June at SIMC

“June is the pearl of summer, shining with warmth and joy.” ~ L.M. Montgomery
As summer begins to fill our calendars and days with movement, and as the light and warmth invite us outdoors for longer stretches, may the sangha continue to be a quiet refuge—a place to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the heart of practice. While June will be a gentler month for additional activities, our weekly meditations continue (see note about Friday mornings below).
Whether through sitting together in practice, offering a helping hand around the Sangha, or simply sharing your presence, each act of care helps sustain this refuge of connection, compassion, and belonging for all.
May your summer be gentle and sweet, and may your hearts be filled with joy.
With care,
The SIMC Board - Carla, Paul, Denise, Kym

Sangha Love for Denise
The ceremony authorizing Denise as a Lineage Holder was deeply heartfelt and beautifully attended. We are grateful to all who came to witness and honor this meaningful moment. A link to photos and videos is included for those who wish to revisit the ceremony.
Deep thanks to Susie Harrington and Brian Lesage for their beautiful words and chants, and to everyone who helped prepare and support the space, including the Scout Hut team, tech support, and our caterer.
For those who would like to contribute to the sangha-wide gift for Denise, we invite you to share a note of gratitude, a poem, quote, drawing, or reflection. Lokta paper and pens are available at the Sangha House (in a box on the stove) through June 15. If you are elsewhere, please email messages to Sangha@SalidaSangha.org by June 15.
Thank you for helping honor Denise and her path as a lineage holder.
Gratitude for Brian and Robin
We had a beautiful retreat with Brian and Robin this past weekend — a refreshing and renewing way to mindfully welcome summer and practice finding stillness amid our busy lives. We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended and shared in the support and connection that naturally arises through practicing together in sangha.
Heartfelt thanks to Brian and Robin for their teachings. Much gratitude for the generosity of all who helped make the weekend possible through setup, potluck support, yogi jobs, food offerings for Brian and Robin, incredible cleanup and moving, and the many unseen details that support a retreat.
Please save the date for our SIMC Fall Retreat with Brian - September 12th–13th at Silver Cliff Ranch in Nathrop. Registration will open mid-July.

We are boundlessly grateful for the generosity and support shown for our Raise the Roof campaign. We have not even reached the end of June, and already we have met — and surpassed — our goal of raising $15,000!
Your care for our Sangha means so much, especially during these challenging economic times. It is deeply, deeply appreciated. The SIMC Board is truly overwhelmed by the kindness, generosity, and heartfelt support.
Roof replacement is scheduled to take place Monday, June 22nd through Tuesday, June 23rd. For safety reasons, Tuesday’s noon meditation will be canceled on June 23rd.
SIMC Summer Pauses
Our Friday morning meditation gatherings and the Poetry, Dharma, and Practice group will pause for the summer.
We are grateful to everyone whose participation, dedication, and thoughtful contributions have supported these offerings. During the break, we will reflect on participation and explore possible adjustments before announcing plans for their return.

Library News - Thank you, Chris O’Connor!
As Chris O’Connor steps down from her library duties, we offer our heartfelt gratitude for the generous care, time, and dedication she has given to our Sangha Library. Together, she and Jackie lovingly transformed the library into a welcoming, organized, and vibrant resource for our community. We hold deep appreciation for the care and devotion Chris brought to nurturing and sustaining this sweet and rich offering for the sangha.
