A 2-day Insight Meditation Retreat on "Metta Infused Mindfulness: Interweaving a quality of kindness into meditation"
Saturday 9am to 4pm and Sunday 9am to 3:30pm REGISTER NOW Many contemporary practitioners have discovered that interweaving a quality of kindness or metta into their meditation can bring a softening that allows their practice to deepen. The Buddha specifically noted the benefits of including a variety of such heart qualities into practice. In this weekend retreat we will gather to explore this metta (kindness) infused mindfulness in a way that is relevant to your formal meditation practice and your life. We will explore this theme in noble silence through sitting and walking practice. Experiential meditative approaches will be offered throughout the retreat, supported by optional discussion times. This retreat is designed for both beginners and experienced practitioners. Location: MeadowRock Ranch 18555 CR 271, Nathrop, Colorado This is a dana based retreat. Donations will be requested to cover Brian's time, preparation and priceless teachings and also to cover the sangha's retreat expenses. Please contact Roberta at 719-221-1853 or email sangha@salidasangha.org with any questions or concerns you have. Library Update Have you stopped by the library lately? You'll find a cozy, inviting space with comfy chairs and a couch for reading. We have recent copies of Lion's Roar and Tricycle and authors such as Jack Kornfield and Pema Chodron. Browse subject areas like Mindfulness and Meditation, Yoga, and Aging. Would you like to take something home? Simply fill out the check-out slip and place it in the confidential wooden box on the table. When it's time to return the item, just place it in the return basket to the left of the door. We will check it in and return it to the shelf. Do you have library books at home you no longer reading? Others might want to read them, too. Maybe you have these long-checked out titles: The Art of Happiness by Brad Haack, A New Earth by Eckert Tolle or When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi. Thank you for returning them. Our library grows with the generosity of our sangha members. Thank you to all who have donated recently. The library is currently in need of a wastebasket and a basket or attractive box about 12” by 12”, in case you have one you're no longer using. We thank you! For questions contact: Chris O'Connor or Jackie Mart Landscaping Project Our landscaping fundraising campaign is off to a great start! So far we have raised $2,140 and have about $2000 more to go! Work on the project is starting this month. The parkway along D Street is going to have a major facelift with pavers and shrubs and irrigation. The Sangha can really use your help! Please give what you can. There will be a donation box in the Sangha House kitchen specifically for this project so please drop a check or cash when you are next at the house. You can also use Paypal. Just note in the memo that the donation is for the landscaping project. Many many thanks! DONATE
